As soon as you turn onto Moon Mountain Drive, you can feel your stress subside as you head two and a half miles to the top of the hill. You will be driving through some of the most beautiful vineyards in the wine country: Martini's Monte Rosso Vineyards, The Christmas Tree Farm, and Moon Mountain Vineyard (try their Reserve). You then bear left, and follow the signs displaying an Adirondack chair. In minutes, you will will arrive at one of the finest vacation getaways this area has to offer - Moon Mountain Retreat! (map).
Moon Mountain Retreat

Off to your left, you will see The Main House and the Sunset Suite. Ask the caretaker to fill you in on some of the fascinating history of the property, which includes Hookers Creek, and the old Goldstein Road.

After absorbing these incredible views and beautifully appointed houses, you might want to hike in our very own redwood forest, or climb up to the knolls to experience views of the entire SF Bay area - from Mt. Diablo in the East Bay, to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, and across to Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County. The breeze is warm, the view is breath-taking.

You can venture into the quaint town of Sonoma, only 4.5 miles away, or drive 3.5 miles to Glen Ellen. If wine tasting is on your agenda, turn right on Route 12 and head north. You will discover many great wineries (map), such as BR Cohn, Imagery, Kunde, Chateau St. Jean, Kenwood, and Mayo. In the town of Kenwood, stop at Jonathan's Farm House and see the unusual and eclectic, fun gifts they sell, or wander across the street and purchase some fresh-picked strawberries from the Laotian growers. "Sawadee Bah."

I've been here for a while, and while I've occasionally heard about a misfunctioning coffee pot, or a guest needing more towels, the one thing I've always heard the guests say is, "We loved it, and we will be back!" So book it while the bookin's good, and we will do our best to make sure your visit is peaceful, private, and fun!
